Korbach is the district seat of Waldeck-Frankenberg located in northern Hesse, Germany. Korbach is more than thousand years old and an earlier Hanseatic town. The town is situated on the German Timber-Frame Road and lies at the northeast bound of the Rhenish State Mountains. The Korbacher Spalte is a 20 m deep and around 1 km elongated cleft located in the earth's surface close to Korbach has yielded significant fossil finds.
