Alghero is a town spread along the north-western coast of the Sassari Province in Sardinia. The modern town was built up around the fortified port, which was constructed during the 11th century. Alghero is a popular resort for tourists and there is plenty to see and do in the town including walking along the 16th century Catalan walls, visiting the town’s cathedral or wandering through Neptune’s Grotto.
