Augusta is a town located on the east coast of Sicily. It is home to two ports, one is mostly industrial and the other designed for recreational use. The town looks out over the Ionian Sea and has some great views to offer. In the industrial harbour, there are two old fortresses out on a small island. They are the Vittoria and Garcia Fortresses. There are many beautiful churches located throughout the city, each with their own specific style and purpose. One of the most interesting buildings is Castello Svevo, also known as Hohenstaufen Castle. It is a huge, squat square building and was built around 1232. If you prefer to find more natural attractions, you can hire a car from VIP Cars and take the coast road south to the natural reserve of Saline di Priolo. There are also some great beaches for relaxing on further along the coast.
