Antananarivo downtown has few but vital things to offer to its tourists. The city is divided into 3 levels. It starts from crowded stairways and leads to the city upper boroughs that have many traditional types of brick houses. If you are visiting the upper town of Antananarivo then you can go to the Rova, which is the Queen Palace. The palace is known as the Manjakamiadana, which was destructed by a fire and therefore, currently it is simply remains of building with stone walls. The upper boroughs of the city, which are Ankadibevava and Andohalo located on the west and Ambohipotsy and Ambohimitsimbina on the East. The boroughs are more picturesque and panoramic in respect to the city views. They contain modern houses and traditional colonial houses, cathedrals and palaces.
