Also known as Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport, Kuantan Airport is located 15 kilometres outside of the main city. It was the first airport on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia to serve international destinations. China Airlines flies between Kuantan Airport and Taipei, Firefly operates flights to Singapore and Penang, and Malaysia Airlines flies to and from Kuala Lumpur. Kuantan Airport is also the base for two squadrons of the Royal Malaysian Air Force. Flights into Kuantan Airport provide easy access to the commercial hub and tourist attractions of the local area.
