Morelia is the capital of the Mexican state, Michoacan. It is located in the Guayangareo Valley in central Mexico. In 1920s, the Spanish took control of the area and built the city, originally called Valladolid. The name was changed to its current one, Morelia, after the Mexican War of Independence.
