Morelia is the capital of the Mexican state, Michoacan. It is located in the Guayangareo Valley in central Mexico. In 1920s, the Spanish took control of the area and built the city, originally called Valladolid. The name was changed to its current one, Morelia, after the Mexican War of Independence. The concert has been going since its inception in 1988 and has more than 40 concerts of various kinds. Another festival is dedicated primary to Mexican and Spanish cinema and called the Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia.
