Gdansk Airport also known as Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport is located in the northwest side of the city, approximately 12 kilometers from it. It’s not a huge airport but caters to a steady number of passengers of about 1.1 million annually. On the outside wall of the terminal building you can see the logo of the airport which is Lech Walesa's actual signature, a stylized 'W'. The airport opened in 1974 close to the village of Rebiechowo.From Gdansk Airport, tourist can reach the downtown via airport bus or taxis in queue. To head straight to the touristic sites though, you can also hop into your car rental from VIP Cars available at airport. From Gdansk Airport, KosciolMariacki or St. Mary’s Church is one perfect first stop. The Zuraw have a wide view of historical buildings plus a trip across the Motlawa River.
