Košice is the second largest city in Slovakia and is the 2013 European City of Culture. The city stands on the Hornád river at the foot of the Slovak Ore Mountains. Košice features a very well preserved historical area and you can see many different styles of architecture including Art Nouveau, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. All you have to do to see many of these examples is to walk along the main street in the city.

There are cultural sites to see in the form of Krásna Hôrka Castle, a Gothic castle that dates back to 1320. There are also natural adventures to be had in the form of rock climbing and hiking in the Zádielská Valley, along with visits to the Turňa Castle ruins at the top of a hill.
