Sydenham is split between the London Boroughs of Bromley, Southwark, and Lewisham. It is a suburb in the south east of the city, and, interestingly, it was one of the first places in the south of England to have a railway station.

Crystal Palace Park is in the area of Sydenham. On the High Street, you will find many independent retailers, as well as well known names. There are several nice parks in the area. Local places of interest include an ornate drinking fountain, St Bartholomew’s Church, the Six Pillars, Gothic buildings with Tudor features, Cobbs Corner, Italian style buildings, Jews Walk, the old houses of Halifax Street, and the Kirkdale Building. John Logie Baird, the inventor of TV, is amongst Sydenham’s famous former residents.
