Springfield is a city and seat of the Sangamon County in the US state of Illinois. The third and present capital of the state, this city is known for its association with its most famous resident, Abraham Lincoln. This city is located on a flat plain and is provided water through an artificial lake called Lake Springfield. The Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport is also located here, and it is served by the Amtrak train services.

The Old Illinois State Capitol Building is an important historical landmark here and was the fifth capitol building in the state. However, travelers mostly visit Springfield for landmarks related to Abraham Lincoln. One can visit attractions such as Lincoln’s Tomb, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home, Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices and many more designated historical sites.
